If you want to maximize your
opt-in conversion rate, you need to apply these six elements
to create a killer capture page.
Remember, the purpose of
having a capture page is to "capture" the contact
information of prospects. Once you have permission to
communicate with the prospect, you can then develop trust
and begin to brand yourself as an expert. The

1. Professional Design: Studies
have proven that people make up their sub-conscious mind
about the design in under a second. We instinctively know an
attractive design when we see one. An amateur or ugly design
will turn visitors off, and they will be quick to leave.
Conversely, a professional, attractive design will keep them
long enough to at least examine the headline and make a
decision to stay or leave at that point. An attractive
design is a must if you even want a chance to communicate
with your visitors.
2. The Compelling
Headline: You have between 2
and 3 seconds to grab the attention of your visitor and give
them a very compelling reason to stay and read and/or listen
to what you have to say. If your headline does not capture
their attention by telling them exactly how they will
benefit, they will click away to the next site in the blink
of an eye. Your headline must tell the visitor the
benefits available to them, and it must do it as quickly as
possible.
3. Opt-In Form:
This may be obvious, but where you place the form is
incredibly important. It should be “above the fold” to get
the best results. People are hurried and literally bombarded
by thousands of messages every day. Many will not take the
time to scroll down the page. Also, the submit button should
also use text that highlights the benefit instead of just
saying “Submit.”
4. Bullet List of
Benefits: Once you’ve got
their attention with the headline, you’ve got to keep it by
telling the visitor exactly what benefits your freebie is
going to provide for them and how it’s going to help them
get what they want. At the end of the list of bullet points
you need to tell them specifically what to do and how to get
what you’re offering. For example, “Enter your first name
and email address to be sent an instant download.”
5. Email Notice & Privacy
Statement: As stated in

give away a valuable freebie. Giving away that freebie is
the main focus of your capture page. An even though you are
providing a valuable resource for free, you need to make
clear to the visitor the reason to enter his or her real

ensure your subscribers that their personal information will
not be shared with anyone, under any circumstances, and that
you will protect their privacy.
6. Testimonials:
People are, by nature, afraid of making mistakes. An easy way

by placing testimonials on your site to let your visitors
know that others have found a great deal of value in your
freebie. This is called "social proof" and will help
increase conversion rates.
